- Q: I'm having trouble logging in to the IATAI membership site. Am I doing something wrong?
-
A: Before attempting to log in, make sure that you have enabled the use of "cookies" in your Web browser. See your specific Web browser's documentation for details. Once you have verified that your Web browser can accept "cookies", type in your email address and password. Your email address will be the same email address that is listed on the "Directory" section of our Web site. If you are new to the membership site, click on the "Forgot Your User ID or Password" link and enter your email address. The system will generate a password and email it to you.
You then can immediately check your email for the computer generated password needed to log in to the site for the first time. Select the ten character password and copy that password. Now, go back to your Web browser and try logging in. Type in your email address and paste the ten character password in the appropriate space.
When using the "Forgot your User ID or password?" option on the Web site, be sure to copy and paste only the password from the computer generated email and be careful not to copy and paste any "white space." Also, be sure your Caps Lock is not on, since your password is case sensitive. Lastly, send an email to webmaster@iatai.org and we will do our best to help you gain access to the site.
- Q: Do we use cookies and what are they?
-
A: IATAI uses a common feature of your Internet Web browser called a "cookie" to assign a unique identification number to your computer. Cookies are files that your Web browser places on your computer's hard drive. IATAI creates and uses these cookie files for authentication and for anonymous user tracking. This form of tracking is used to continuously improve our Web site to better meet our member's needs and make for a better site experience.
IATAI does not and cannot use cookies to retrieve personal information from your computer. IATAI will not use cookies to store personal information, such as credit card numbers, nor can any Web site other than ours read the information we store in the cookie.
- Q: Why won't my username and password work for the newsgroup section?
-
A: In order to post an article or comment in the newsgroup section you must register and log in to the newsgroup separate from the one used to access the directory and newsletter. At the upper right portion of the newsgroup window, click on the "Register" link. Then type in a username of your choice. It can be your email address, initials or whatever you want to be referred as when posting. Then, type in a password you can remember (it can be the same as the IATAI membership site). After that is complete, you can click on the "Log In" link, and you are now ready to post your article.
- Q: I'm already a member, why do I have to create a separate account for the IATAI newsgroup?
-
A: The newsgroup section is not restricted to just IATAI members like the rest of our site. Having the newsgroup reside outside the IATAI members only site, allows non-IATAI members the ability to participate in newsgroup discussions. Opening the newsgroup to the public will allow anyone to see the benefits of membership and may encourage new members to join. This will allow IATAI to grow its membership base and become more influential in the Accident Reconstruction community.
